well heres the story when i bought my polo 1.4, 98 the passenger side window didn't work, which i could live with. But last week i had a mate in my car and he wanted to smoke some weed i told him no as i didn't want him smoking weed in my car, so as a joke i said yeh you can smoke weed in the car if you can get the electric window down me saying this as i knew they didn't work but to my suprise he pressed the button and the damn window went down. I was extremly shocked to learn that the window now worked and was extremly happy. Anyway a couple days ago gave it a try and they didnt work which pissed me off, so i took the panels of checked the switch and still nothing.
Anyone have any ideas to what it could be I've seen the sticky thread but wondered if anyone had experienced this at all.
Thanks
passenger side electric windows
If the motor worked then stopped working, i would be checking motor connections and switch connections. Have you tried swapping the switches over for each side and seeing if there is a difference? as that would eliminate switches and leave the motor, or perhaps damaged wiring between the switch and motor.
BTW if you get pulled and they smell weed in your car your going to be f***ed

Re: passenger side electric windows
I had exactly the same problem on my friends car. Her window would not work and then sometimes would randomly.polokaj wrote:well heres the story when i bought my polo 1.4, 98 the passenger side window didn't work, which i could live with. Solution was to replace the motor cog. I got the repair kit from a VW dealer and spent an afternoon fitting it. Not being too mechanically minded the video (in german) from the sticky thread was a must to get things fitted properly.
Part no. for the repair kit is in the sticky mine cost about £28 including VAT. Make sure you go in with the part number for the kit when you go to the main dealer otherwise they haven't got a clue.
When fitted everything works perfect, well worth the effort!!!!
