6N2- what IS that smell!??

Hi all-

had a 6N2 for a couple of months now, and when i rev the car or pull away a bit too quickly i get this smell of burning..at first i thought it was the clutch at the end of its life (51000 miles now..) i took it to a mechanic who said the clutch was on its way out, but it had a good 6 months yet. So it does need replacing, but the gear change is still smooth, its just when i let the car sit idle (especially when the clutch is depressed) and when i take off. I don't rev like a nut or really take off in first except the odd occasion, but after a few miles it starts to smell. When i stop the car and have a sniff its coming from around the engine bay and the back of the car..I think it will be sorted when the clutch is changed, but could it be soething worse? is there oil leaking somewhere getting hot/burning?

Dont think I can help u m8 on this one but have you got a price for a new gearbox yet?

i've been told the gearbox is fine, its just the clutch. Haven't had a quote yet, but not looking forward to it..!
