Hello everyone,

This might seem a little bit too far off topic for the board, but I’m really up against it at work and will likely be posting this message around a few forums over the next few days. I always try to keep work and relaxation separate, but needs must…

I am not sure if anyone on this board will fulfil the prerequisites themselves, but you may well know someone that does – friends, family or colleagues. So please pass this on if you think they could be interested…


An opportunity exists to undertake a PhD in a Glasgow-based higher education institution. The PhD will be located in a construction-related School, but the work will be of a predominately psychological nature. No background in construction is required, but more than a passing interesting in architecture or building design generally would be a key advantage as theory will be built and tested in this context. The main requirements are a thorough understanding of psychological instruments (at the moment thought likely to be associated with cognitive mapping and judgement) and – above all else – a passion for the subject and a carefully considered desire to get a PhD.

The ideal candidate will have an MSc (or equivalent) in Environmental Psychology or a more general MSc in Psychological Research Methods. Other humanities or “socialâ€
