Hi folks!!, this is the first time I have checked out the Polo forum and I have done through shear desperation!!
I own a Polo 1.4 on a 2000 plate and have owned it for a couple of years, its a cracking car looking very smart in silver with great alloys..you get the picture.
Then one day the warning light came on, the one with the orange engine symbol with the flash going through it, took the car straight to my local VW dealer who said they had found dirt in the throttle body? and all was fine.
About a month or so later..on came the light, back to the dealer and they checked all the connections etc etc and returned the car...you know where this going?
Maybe a month or so later..yes on came the light, back to the dealer. They apologised...then had the car for a day and stripped down and checked various control connections etc....
Guess what?, yep the lights back on!!!!!
Please please can anyone give me a clue what could be going on here?, is it emmision based, is it a dodgy Lamba probe or something?
The car runs ok its just this light!!!!!help
HELP PLEASE!!

My ABS light comes on cause of a faulty speed sensor in rear wheel.
Many other lights have come on too randomly. I believe its a common fault with the polo.
Ive heard it can be caused by water leaks through the aerial so maybe check the rubber surround of your aerial?
Oh and have you checked the common faults thread at the top? Maybe some stuff in there.
Not too much to worry about i dont think and welcome to the forum.

Hi guys and a big thank you for all your wise words, the car has gone to the VW dealer this morning for yet another poke about!. The only good news so far is they have not charged me but hey lets wait and see?
It seems from the replies that this light is a common occurance and it should be ok to ignore?
Lets see what they do this time, I will keep you all updated...anys news which may help someone in the future would be very helpful!!
