My other half's mkIV is now 2 feet shorter :(

Post by david burton »

Bad news, my girlfriend crashed her mkIV last night going onto a motorway from a slip road. Glanced to her left to look for a gap in the traffic, looked forward and it had all stopped in front of her. Was at about 10-20mph into the back of a Laguna.

So that black mkIV in the member's rides section is now stuffed. And I had just cleaned it too! The guys from the insurance assessment said that they all thought it was a sweet looking motor (and thought there was no way it was a P plate!)

gutted, at least she was fine tho.

will keep you posted

That's bad news man! :(

That car looked really sweet in the pictures section.

But as you say, the main thing is that she's OK - at the end of the day it's just a car!

it's going to be an interesting couple of weeks - I'm guessing that if they declare it a write-off then I might try and source the breakers the car goes to and buy some bits off them! I have no idea how the insurance company will deal with the head unit, alloy gear knob, M3 mirrors etc and whether we can change them and inform the insurers as to what we have done. confused. I reckon they'll just take the whole car and that'll be it. My missus will then have to make sure she gets the money for the extra bits then...

a very grey area.

she's gutted, and not sure what she wants to do.... another polo I reckon ;)

76,000 miles, to be honest it needs a service. It hasnt been driven much in the last year (about 200 miles have been done) cause i've been on a ban. Its in original Dragon Green but i needs touching up in areas (i can take some close up photos for you) but this is nothing a half decent DIY man couldnt sort (its just the laquer thats been chipped)

I forgot to mention thats its got a GLX rear spoiler and wing mirrors off a Toyota Celica GT4 as well.

cheers!

oooff, that insurance is high, but I guess that's with no-NCB. I wonder what it'd be like in the midlands :)

i like the ICE install - when you had the old install (sub facing out), how did you do the box for the sub? it looks like the back seats would have had to be shifted back to fit it all in! very neat.

will see if I can pursuade the bird to have a think ;)

were all the modifications declared on the car?
glad every1 ok-thats the main thing

if mods not declared, take them off, in fact take them all off anyway or u will never see them again-why pay a yard for your own bits?

put the standard mirrors on and put the m3 ones on ur car
