GTI Diesel version??

Post by young_lew »

are Volkswagen ever going to bring out a quick diesel version of the new polo gti?

in my opinion they should bring out the 9n3 GTI with a Pd160 engine cos i'd buy one tomorrow if they did!!

spose it may take sales away from the Ibiza Cupra R but i like the polo alot more, plus i want a fast diesel for my next car lol

Don't think they plan to make a Polo GT so the fastest one available is the 1.9 PD100.

There was the 130 diesel but it was deleted just before the GTI came out.

pd160 is just the "Cupra"

they haven't made a Cupra R since the mk3 and this was a limited edition petrol version!

Seat have apparently dropped the "R" badging as it supposedly angered Honda who have already done R types!

It's quite simple...

All you need is:

1º - Buy a Polo 9n3 GTi
2º - Ibiza Cupra PD160 engine
3º - Put the cupra engine on the Polo
4º - Give me the 1.8T engine, totaly free...

Highly unlikely to be Diesel GTI ever.

When the Golf mk 5 came out there was a lot of talk about diesel version etc etc and VW said GTI is petrol performance model...Fullstop.

As for Seat, its FR (warm version) or Cupra (hot version). No other names or letters.

Apart from the Honda moan. Cupra stood for Cup Racing, so it seemed a bit silly putting Cupra R ....Cup Racing Racing in other words.

step 1 I have done but its a GT130 9n
step 2 is done but the engine needs a total rebuild and lots of mods ; )
thats it tho.....no time, money or interest at the minute and I am happy with the cars engine as it is.

Just about every manufacturer has used the R badge at some point or other.
Jaguar are another current one using it.
How different is this from using S, SE, GTI, GTE or whatever else.

Richard

We weren't talking about other manufacturers, just talking about Seat and the Cupra, Cupra R badges.

Just saying that Cupra R had been dropped for 1 reason or another

Enjoy your GT130

Happy Motoring

is the PD 130 engine in the Mk6 GT a de-tuned version of the PD 160 in the Ibiza?
