Hi
Am looking into upgrading the front speakers in my Mk5
Is this fairly easy to do? I was gonna just get some fitted somewhere
Im not looking into getting a sub just upgrading the door speakers to something better.
Someone reccomended JBL. Any ideas?
Mk5 speaker upgrade
fairly straight forward. just remove three screws (door card) then unclip it all the way round (about 6-7 clips) and thats it, changing speakers is just a case of unscrew the existing one and screw in the new one, although you may need a adaptor which converts vw's wiring into standar speaker wire.
i may have a set of 16cm speakers for sale if ur unterested. they dont fit my polo because i need 17cm, although there seems to be a lot of confuson as to what sizes the speakers really are.
my door spkrs are 17cm for a fact (i have measured them up) however some people claim they have got 16cm speakers. although i have got uprated speakers so maybe thats why mines are slightly larger?

theyre components, i.e. woofer/mid in the door and the tweet in the edge of door

those exact ones. can have em for £45 + p+p if you want, but id check if they fit in yours first. whip of your door panel when you get time, and measure the diameter or the ones you have currectly in your door, this way you can be 100% sure as to what size speakers are in your car. like a fool i just bought the speakers without checking fitment, then realised they wont fit.
also dont even bother changing the back ones. from what i hear, they actually degrade the quality as oppose to improve it. i saw in another forum where one guy described it as
""imagine a concert where the stage is acutally facing the other way round instead of facing you. ""
most of the sound clarity will be lost. instead keep your back ones standard (if you have back door speakers) and just upgrade the front 2 and the tweets. and in the future if you decide to amp them, they will sound 200 times better

Hi sorry for the late reply
Looks all good. Will have to see what I can get in the car.
I will try and take the panel off sometime. Am really worried about breaking something though like a clip lol
I understand what you mean about the stage facing the other way at a concert. Quite a fair point!
At the moment im just looking into the speakers and tweets upgrades although later on I might invest in an amp
Cheers!
