Getting the front door panel off and a crazy fuel gauge :P

Hi all,

Two random things.
1) The drivers door speaker is making something in the door vibrate (i think its the window mechanism but im not too sure)
2) The fuel gauge is becoming rather inaccurate - after filling up to full, and then when u drive afterwards the gauge will go down to somewhere between full and 3/4, give it 15 mins and it goes back up to full - whats going on :S!?

Anyways, i want to get the door panel off so i can tighten up (if needs be) or even replace the factory standard speaker.

Does anyone know how to do so? and if so is it easy to replace the speaker (on citroens, they rivet the speakers on :? - drilling the rivets out on my mate saxo was not enjoyable believe me :P)

And as for the gauge, has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Alex

I Know Nothing bout the fuel Guage mate, But the door card is Easy to get off, On the actual door handle, there is a piece of Plastic that pops of, can be a pain to do, Under there you will find 2 screws un do them, Then Carefuly starting at the bottom Pull the Door card away, be carfull when popped off as the Window and wing mirror Switch are attached.

Unplug these and door card off, and to put on just do the reverse lol, When the card is off you will see the speaker, its held in by 4 Philips head screws, so no Rivets, to get to the window there is a grey layer of foamy type stuff, you would need to pull this away, I have not done this so cant comment on what it is like to remove,

Hope this helps.

Dont worry about the petrol gauge. Mines fuked up to. Goes up and down as it pleases. Worked out tho....as soon as the petrol light comes on u have on average another 50 miles left in her. Thats for a 1.4 s so give or take a little depending on ur engine size ;)

And two Nice 10" Subs in he boot with a custom install, But at the end of the day its your money, But these make a hell of a difference compared to the OEM ones

they look nice - as for the tweeters, would you use them? or just stickwith the ones in the door pillars already?

Also, I thought they were 17cm holes, so will 16cm ones fit ok?

Cheers,

Alex

not sure on 16cm Fitting in them, But i also replaced the OEM Tweeters, The Just fitted straight in, They sit in a piece of foam, so its pretty easy, i will say tho, when you replace the components and tweeters you will need to cut the wires in them, and solder the new ones on

had a mooch, and they make 16.5/17cm ones so its all good. How do you get the tweeter grille off? I cant really see a way to :P

Hehe soldering is like second nature to me - when you are repairing PC's all the time it kind sticks in your head.

When you have the door card off there is off a screw just under neath take that out and gently pop it off, also when taking the door card theis one screw ta the end, ie close to the heater vent, mind and take that out
