Starter Motor

Hi guys

My starter motor makes a weird noise on starting? just after the engine starts it makes a kind of grinding/buzzing noise for a second or so? Any ideas? It is relatively new. I picked the car up on Wednesday and was tolda bout it by the previous owner, he said that vw said it was bedding in!?

I think this is normal, and has nothing to do with the starter motor. It's the fuel pump priming, I believe.

Do you get the sound when you open the door?

No. It happens when the engine starts not before it starts. its quite loud aswell. Fuel pump buzzes more than grinds!?

Mine does it too. Freaked me out the first time it did it. It does it probably 1 in every 20 starts. But its seemed to have worked alright for the last 7months.

If you do find out what it is, please let me know.
