As some of you know, I've just bought some new wheels which will probably be going on the car in early March ready for the ultimate dubs show.
My original plan was to get my bbs splitties refurbed over the summer as and when I had the cash to do it. However one of my friends has decided he really wants some and it willing to pay a fair bit for mine despite the need for refurbing. I could definitely do with the money at the moment and it would mean I could lower the car next month rather than waiting.
However these are the original wheels that came on the car so I had never planned on selling them!
Now I don't know whether to sell them and do the mods I want with the money then buy another refurbed set once I've got a bit more cash or just keep to the original plan. Any advice anyone?
Wheel dilemma
Thats a toughie, one which sadly I think only you are able to make.
I've seen some varied prices in for the BBS RXII 15" depending on the state they are in, a fellow member here has a set fo £700 if I remember correctly and I've seen, I'm sure an eBay, an okay set that still may have some time to go but was at currently £80 odd squid.
IMO I think the 15" will start to decline in value as I see more and more sets available, dubbers will also want the 16", which are sadly rarer and also are beginning to favour other wheels, for example Porsches...
Hope this might make it easier for you to decide...and keep us posted!

Re: Wheel dilemma
Personally, I'd never separate the RXII's from the GTI, they're so closely associated with each other. I'd imagine a GTI without RXII's is seriously devalued.
Buying a replacement set later just seems like a lot of hassle, a lot of unknowns. Depends on how much your friend is willing to pay over the odds for them really, i suppose

I agree, I went out and spent a fortune getting the 16" RXII's so I have the best of both worlds, I cant see it devaluing the car when it comes to sale at all, will just look nicer to the buyer than others.
Bryony I'd sell them depending on what you have been offered, I've been keeping an eye on prices for them on ebay for ages and they range between £230 - £500 for a good refurbed set, currently in the process of getting mine refurbed and sold
