Stalling Problem

Post by kazss11 »

I have a 1.4 polo 1999 V reg,
I have been driving for 4 months now and this month i have had problems with it stalling, i will be doing about 40 slowing to 30, when i change from 4th to 3rd it stalls, the red battery light comes on the dashboard.
Im not to sure why this is, anybody know if its a common problem?

I had a similar problem on my '96 1.6 8v, but usually at slower speeds normally when changing from 2nd to 1st or neutral when coming to a stop. I'd either rev it a little or just bring the clutch up semi bump starting it like. It was an infrequent problem which I never really investigated so I can't really help on why it happens.

I've heard/read of other people with problem so hopefully someone can enlighten you more.

Hope this helps,
Steve

i've had that problem! proper ambarasin as they think you are always stallin! took it to the garage that always take my car to, told him, and he said the thermo sensor was probably dirty, so the cleaned it, charged me £15 inc labour and half hour later my car was ready, since then it hasnt happened and the car feels much better, specially first thing in the mornin!

if it was when you were coming to a red light and the car stalls....

then i would say its the the throttle body needing a clean. (what helped my car out)

but who knows... iv heard it could even be a tiny hole in one of the air filter pipes.
