My Polo GTI

Post by gti-joe »

Hi, newbie here. Thought I would post up some pics of my GTI. Had it for about 5 months now, loving it. Only a few mods uptil now, Forge dump valve, K+N panel filter, PD 160 intake and Seat strutbrace. Looking at lowering it soon and new rims.

Painted the badge myself, the rear one and the GTI badge have now been painted black aswell.

Dont notice much differance with the filter and larger intake, it is probably minimal. The Forge dump valve is noticeable though, definately keeps the turbo spooling between gear changes and accelaration is a little bit quicker.

I posted in the chassis section the following. Does anybody know ?

Can anybody tell me if lowering spring and shock kits on the market for the Polo 9n will fit the new Polo 9n2 GTI. Lots of kits for the 9n listed by manufacturers but nothing listed for the 9n2 GTI.

Thanks, David

The kits of the 9n will fit on the 9n3 (yes it's 9n3 not 9n2 :))

Does the new forge dump valve give you that subaru gear change like effect with the gas release?

No noise, as the VAG 20valve engine requires a recirculating dump valve
which puts the dumped air back into the inlet system instead of into the atmosphere which gives the loud pwwwwsh on some of the Jap cars.

thats right i too have the forge 007p on mine, its a good piece of kit, especially with all the other engine work iv had done it works well

1.8 20vt's done respond well to atmospheric dv's as it upsets the engine management, so a recirc dv is best like the 007p to force the charge air back in to the inlet as this causes no problems

dont worry about your suspension, my gti is on eiback pro street s coilovers for the 9n and works a treat

Jeff, after getting the car lowered did you have to get the wheel alignment and camber checked and adjusted ?

Nice Polo 9n3, of course it's nice as it's a GTi ;)

Nice idea on the front badge being black.

Have you already got something in mind for rims ? For lowering I can really recommend you Eibach it drives superb and still the comfort is maintained.

As for the rims personally I would think of something like OZ Superleggera in 16 or 17" as they are real performance rims (low weight) and will look awesome (on a GTI) I think.

Here's a pic of the rims

Just my thoughts though.

Good luck further on with the little devil :p
