My Mk5 Polo Project

Post by MaxZ »

Well had a bit of time on my hand today, and after being asked how much I spent on the car since I've owned it, I though I'd document the long process from where the car started to where it is right now.
Picked it up from a local car dealership, after searching for either a black or an anthracite polo for a good 3/4 months. Looked like this:
Image
Was specced as an SE model, with the 16v alloys.
The very first thing to get done was the sound system, as seen here being fitted at a mate's house.

Had Ipod Connectivity and component front speakers along with a sub. Next on the list was the Kamei grill I imported from germany, looking on the jeep like this:

Then after a few weeks, managed to get the car lowered at the same time as getting myself the BBS's diamond turned with black centres

Then in not so short of a time came my first polo meet (Hayes, where I got few to come up from up north and only max turned up from west london)
Image
Then came the fitment of the GTi Splitter, also came along German Style Number Plates

Along with a rear spoiler, thanks to Phil off of here

and that's pretty much how my car looked at Polo Show

Before going to university in October, I managed to get myself some Kamei Door Seals imported from Germany again, along with a Momo Race gear knob from R-Tec and some german door pins
Image
Not much change during autumn, come winter, went to Torque Exhausts to get an exhaust fitted along with Jason. Also changed the rims to these horrible ones, in order to prevent the BBS's getting corroded. Also came a black interior mirror, during fitting of which I managed to smash my front windscreen =0

Can see ripley lurking in the picture

Also during that period played around with having a PS2 in the car along with a TV, great for watching TopGear while munching KFC, but not much else.

Then came winter time, and birthday time, hence a bit of money to spend on the car. That's when a few changes kicked in, along with help of panda on here.
First came angel eyes and smoked repeaters, as shown at Newcastle Polo Meet. Also came along a ClubPolo Tax Disc Holder, courtesy of Kam

And then came rear hellas along with smoothing front bumper and bonnet, along with GTi splitter getting a respray. Also changed those horrid white rims to freshly resprayed P-slots, only for winter though. Now it's looking like this, until I get back home from university :)))

Had the BBS repolished for summer, so was driving along on the Rover alloys which I had repainted stone grey
Image
But they came out like this, so I was well pleased with the result
Image
Rolled around on them beauties for whole of 2 days

Then decide to give way for the RX's

Since then managed to fit an 8k HID kit. In that period I've had the air pipe cause me troubles and the central locking stopped working. However that's all been sorted out and I've had the ignition leads changed so car runs sweet as a nut.
Some more small changes...

Just to give you a rough idea, picture taken without any image enhancement on the camera, i.e. no flash, no colour control

I've placed an order for some wind deflectors, and car's going to be going in for smoothing of the rear bumper.
Looking forward to future updates
