hello,

I think that i asked this in the wrong part of the forum.

Whats the best way of dealing with bubbling rust/paint. the rust is only slightly cmoing through, about the size of a 5 pence piece.

I dont really want to go made by grinding it off because i cant afford a professional resray at the moment cos of starting a new job. Was going to get a can mixed up by VW and have a go but what do you guys suggest.

Ill try and get a photo tonght.

the only way to get rid of it is to rub it down to bear metal then smooth it with filler if you need to

that would mean spraying it. how good a job could i get from a can from VW?

Its right in the middle of the pannel so its a pain.

red oxide is a type of primer.

is your car a solid colour or is it metallic? i'll tell you this - you won't get a metallic spray to look like the original paint.

That, is very true! The previous owner made a rough repair on the side of my bonnet, the paint doesnt match and i rekon thats why.

I have a rust problem now on my boot too, so I literally scrape the stuff off? :( its like 4 ot 5 round bits les than a centimeter in diameter but i wana get rid of it now rather than later
