newbie 16v

Post by monkeyalan »

hello.

just to intruduce my self as i'm sure i'll be here asking about throttle bodys and pedal boxes at some point

picked this up today

60k with FSH and 1years T & T

Image

it's a bit rough round the edges , has a few bits of damaged trim and is due for the cambelt change, but still pretty good i think.

On first impressions it seems fairly nippy and is certainly a bit more chuckable than my mk3 golf gti.

it's a rare colour for valvers from what i've been told ?

Welcome to the Polo forum! Not sure it is a rare colour, but it took me more than 4 months to look for a decent example of 6n 16v in dark blue or black. I think its called Indigo Blue with pearl effect. Nice colour, I have the same blue as yours.

first up it needs a damn good clean. filthy bugger who owned it before seems to have been a builder or summat as theres mud and crap all over the inside.

then i need to get a few bits of surface rust on one arch sorted.

not planning any drastic mods really, just a bit of a drop, maybe badgeless grill. I've already debadged the boot and the 16v badge on the grille.

i'm having a decent cat1 alarm fitted too.

Welcome mate

Nice car, I recently bought my modded one for a bit too much I reckon but seemed good at the time (Bloody good looking Polo's always play around with your eyes  )

How much it cost to flush the boot out and spray cos i'm looking to do the same.

Seen a few the same colour as yours although not easy to find many in blue or black. I'm already asking about throttle cos the engine keeps cutting out with no hope trying to sort it out. Hope your lucks better than myn mate.

so far i've fixed both broken glove box doors, sorted the clutch, fixed the rust , fitted a 70mm cold air feed from the grill , cleaned inside and out and debaged it all for less than £40. 8)

i've just won a mk4 golf leather gaiter/knob on ebay so the horrid plastic thing can go.

2 new tyres going on Monday. Anyone here on kumho Ku11's? would have used toyo proxes but they don't do 'em in 185/55/14

next up (missus allowing) is a 60mm drop using pi kit. I used their springs on a jetta years back and was quite impressed.
