Stone Chip Repair! lots of pics!

Post by dino »

Been meaning to do this for months but only jsut got the balls to take wet and dry to the paint! Very daunting to begin with...

Last weekend i filled in the chips with paint i brought from VW applied with a toothpick allowing a blob of paint over it. Only managed to get a few pics of them but there was about 15 blobs around the bonnet.

Plus a scratch that has been on the car since i brought it got some attention.

To remove the sanding mark's i used 4" Light Cut pad with Menz IP. 2 set's using slow cut method followed by 1 pass of Menz FF over the whole bonnet.

Some good results there Dino, you're braver than me as well.

I don't think I'd have the bottle to wet and dry any of the car

That's the way to look at it I suppose, if it goes wrong then get it sorted, if it works you've saved a fair bit of money.

Excellent results there.

What wet and dry grade did you use? Got any links to the products that you have used.

Ive got a couple of light scratches that need sorting, would my best bet be something like meguiars scratch x?

Cheers

Cheers dino.

For the light scratch did you add any paint or just lightly sand down with the 2000 straight away? Then on to the Menz IP

Cheers for the info, you are some what of a detailing expert.

i added a little paint on the scratch before sanding.

With Scratch-X you would be there hours trying to remove sanding marks tbh.
