Tyre Size Help

Post by iggy350 »

Hi
I got a Polo 1.6 CL. I got given some alloy wheels from my Dad due to him selling his car and they not fitting his new one :D but when I fitted them on my Polo the tyres rub im just wondering what size tyres I need.

The alloys are 17 inch by 7inch i think.

The current tyres are 215/40 ZR17 I believe. I got told to purchase some 205/40 for 17s but Im not sure if these are correct as the place which told me couldnt even tell the difference between a Wheel Stud and a Bolt, as it took them 40 minutes to sort me out with some that will fit the wheel and the Car :P

Thanks

Thanks m8

if anyone else has any input I'd be very grateful for it. I just dont wanna go out and blow £200+ on some tyres for them rub the Car and scuff up the arches and stuff :)

More feedback on this issue is great for me :)

according to the tyresize calculator here

http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html

205/35/17 would be a good bet......but

http://www.mytyres.co.uk/start.html and http://www.blackcircles.com/

says no such size exists.

if i were you i'd sell the 17's and buy some nice 16's with 195/40/16's if you want that big wheel look.

tbh the wheels i got cost one hell of a lot of money and for me to sell them id get nothing near the amount my dad spent. but i have talked to a lot of people now and they assure me that 205/40 will be ok the only rub on very hard full lock so ill just get them. =D and i agree 205/35 wud be ideal and i also did research to find they didnt exist :P

But i found a garage to fit the tyres and am getting just one done today to see how much the tyre rubs. if its all good then ill get the others done. worse comes to worse ill get my arches modded My m8 can do it for cheap hehe Hes fitting a f*****g 3L engine into a polo atm its proper sick lol my guess is he wont be able to go round a corner lol
