ok so basically i can choose the size wheels i want.. just as long as the offset is right.. how do i find that out? also by slam i presume ya mean lower her? and thanks alot too for your help.. any more advice on what style wheels? or even any upgrades i should be thinkin about? maybe if you could show me couple pics? by the way yours look dead cool...
Thanks for saying mine look nice, which i agree they do, alot of people criticise people who get 17s coz they think it looks too big for the car. I can see what they mean but i happen to think the style of mine suits the colour and style of the car. saw them and had to have them!
You're pretty much free to get any size u want from 13 inches to 17inches really mate. Theres so many styles out there to choose from, 4 spokes, 5 spokes, multispokes, deep dish, then u have all the finishes like diamond cut, sprayed different colours....its all up to personal taste.
To get an idea id go to www.rochfordtyres.co.uk, theres a guide thing in the corner where u can choose the make, model and wheel size for your car and it shows u all the wheels available. That'll give u a basic idea of styles. Apart from that id say just look at alloy manufacturers sites such as the wolfrace homepage etc. Just google 'alloys' or wotever to get a taste.
As for offsets, u get different offsets for different sizes and cars etc. If u get ur alloys fitted professionally they will tell u which offset u need for the tyres not to rub. If you're thinking of slamming (lowering) your car then u'll need their advice, or the other people on this forum, so u get the right offset and size for what u want!
Hope this helps!
and if you still want help i'll try and get a few pics of a variety of alloys up for you and see what takes your fancy!

I cant see why theyd be different no, i think its a standard. If u go to that rochford website thing and put in vw, polo, 4 stud, 15's then itll show u the alloys and it also gives u the number for the offset of the wheels. Thats pretty much the offset u want!
As for lowering it, i would say about 60-70mm but others on here would say about 100mm which i think could cause problems on bumpy roads and speed humps, but im no expert as im on 17s and havent lowered yet! ask some people on here if theyve had problems lowering X amount of mm's on 15's. Everyone here is helpful!
I'll try and get some pics 2moro after work for you. I'm sure once other people read this thread they might give their 2 cents on what alloys they think are nice!

Rim size pretty much depends on your personal choice and what style your hoping to modify the car. If your gona smooth the whole car off like the euro look then its best to go with small deep dish rims and very slammed. If not then go for larger rims. black16v's got 17s on his but would still look great with a slamming drop. With larger rims the car needs a bigger height adjustment to have the same low effect as a car with 15's on a 40mm drop.
I'v currently got 15" alloys with 195/55/R15 tyres which don't work with a 80mm drop. The tyres constatntly scrub against the inner arches and at full steering lock the tyres catch the outer arch. The problem is with the height along with the '55' cos the tyres are too wide. If I had opted for '45' then I doubt the tyres would of scrubbed between a 50-60mm drop in height.

Yeah you're right it needs lowering! im thinking of going 60mm but im really worried about rubbing! i might go 40mm, not a huge slam but its better than the 4x4 look that its got at the mo! Its on the list of the many things i want to do to my baby!NOZ wrote:black16v's got 17s on his but would still look great with a slamming drop.
