Sub or no Sub?

Hi All!

I have been thinking about this now ever since i got my Polo!

I have in my loft, out of my old car a 1000w sub!
It was really needed in my old car, but i am not sure about the Polo.
The stock VW sound system in the new ones is quite good.
Also the bass is quite good as well.

I felt a bit short of space in my last car, which had a bigger boot.
I think i could just squeeze the sub and tool box in the polo.

Not sure what i should do guys, what do u think?

If not, the sub will be for sale!!

Thanks

Chris

Go for it, the standard system is pretty good but with a sub, you hear music in a whole different light 8)

I think i have the wiring diagram somewhere! I'll dig it out and give it to you at pod if i have it.

Not sure off the top of my head as my mate installed mine.

Do you have to take the head unit to bits?

Also is yours auto power on ur do you have a switch?

I'm not too sure on the newer Polos but have you got much room under your seat? There is such thing as an underseat sub, only about 8" but that close to you they make a difference. Just a thought for space saving really.

hmmmm,

under seat sub sounds good.

I opted out of the under seat draws in mine. so i assume there is sum room under there.

I guess there is a DIY guide on how to get the wires through the firewall?

I was going to fit it before the GTI Festival, but i aint sure.
Will see what Dino gets me!

Thanks

A quick search found this one:

- 8"
- Active (built in amp)
- 150 Watt (under your seat it will feel more)
- Size 25 x 26.5 x 11cm

Just check with anybody else thats got a sub as to where they have put their power wires. In the mk4 a common places to route the power to the boot is through the bulkhead/firewall where the washer pipe goes through into the passenger footwell/ behind the glove box.

If that works on your model you could probably find a way of routing the cables from the centre console, under the carpet to either or both seats.

Hope that helps,
Steve

hey that little sub is pretty cool..takes up no space..but would you put it under the front passenger seat or your own driver seat?
