Turbo update
I've fitted everything now and just need to put it on. Im waiting for silicon to dry overnight and tomorrow it should be sweet. The fans are pushing quite a bit of air. Id guess about 200 cfm (no real idea though). I hope this means good things for performance and ill let you peeps know what happens

What things did u adjust? m8 of mine is driving a bold-on turbo in his mk4, specs:
- 1,4cc 8v block (engine code AEX), widenth to 1,4050 cc's (to fit his new pistons)
- JE forged pistons
- KKK03 Turbocharger (at 1,1 Bar pressure)
- weigthed crankshaft
- 1.6 AEE inletmanifold
- 1.6 AEE throttle + injectors
- Stand-alone motormanagement system (he got rid of his original VW ecu)
- 60mm downpipe
- 55mm catback system
- Forge blowoff valve
- Fuelpressure regulator (at 5 Bar pressure)
- Golf mk 3 VR6 fuel-pump
this set-up is only 1500 km old, running like a maniac and sounding like a wild beast
, planning to fine tune the motormanagement system soon and measuring Torque/BHP afterwards
What set-up you driving? How did you mod the motormanagement? Kind of curious about this, because these type of stand-alone systems cost a fortune, and looking for a cheaper and reliable solution for another m8 of mine. Either way, have fun with your new blown engine m8, you'll definately love it!

jarno, have a look here: http://www.tigerstyle.co.uk/poloforum/v ... hp?t=29650
just taking a wild guess here, but i don't think anything else has been changed to cope with the compressed air..... ( ! )
does it just run at constant speed then, or have you wired it to change with engine speed?

Turbo
Well Im a little disapointed today. The other 3" blower fan made a bit of difference but somehow two 6" fans dont! (same motor). No ecu mods of any kind, just manifold, backbox and airfilter with cold air. I dont think the fans create any real boost to be honest. Been driving all day, and i recon it was quicker yesterday with the small fan on it. Nevermind at least i tried. I did a 0-60 test on flat looking road, using the CD player as a timer
. Time was just under 13 seconds, a small improvement over stock. Wether the fans made any difference im skeptical. Interestingly, the 0-60 time is better than that of a 1.6 polo (75ps) according to carfolio.com
Jarno that Polo sounds nuts i have to say!!!! Im looking for a bigger engine now.... Cant be bothered trying to tune this godawful 1.4 any more. I know without ECU mods i was being optimistic but i thought it would make a difference after the first tests with the small fan. Throttle response still improved but nothing amazing. Gonna rip it out tomorrow and put the battery back in its original home.
Im gonna be on the look out for a cheap new engine. Anyone know offhand if a 1.8 16v from a corrado will drop in? 140ps

ah, that explains a lot, thought it was a "genuine" turbo-conversion heredragon_green wrote:jarno, have a look here: http://www.tigerstyle.co.uk/poloforum/v ... hp?t=29650
