Wiper blade fitting..Settle an argument for me

Post by pootas »

Bought a set of standard Bosch blades for my Gti and fitted them today...Should have been a simple job but has created a "discussion" between me and a few mates...

The drivers side is obviously fitted with the spoiler so you know which way it goes onto the arm...Now the passenger side is curved and this is where the arguments started...

I say the passenger side blade should be fitted so that as you look at the windscreen from the front of the vehicle the wiper is in a "smiling curve" ie the ends of the blade are curved up...2 of my mates say it should be fitted so that the ends of the blade curve down....

What do you guys think?[/quote]

Blimey I thought you'd have asked about whether the driver's side wiper spoiler should be on top or underneath, haha! It should be underneath by the way ;)

My passenger side wiper is in the "smiley" position, ie the ends curve up ever so slightly.

Cheers

The spoilers are there to provide downforce on the blades so that the can wipe effectively at high speed ie. motorway.

Not sure if it curves up or down, but it should be obvious by looking at it wether it would cause a downforce at speed. If you have the the wrong way, your wipers may flap about a bit at speed - not what you want!
