Replacement Components for Gti

I've got a 2000 Gti and am planning to replace the Headunit and Speakers..To start with I'm going to replace the speakers and basically want to know:

What speakers would you recommend as a direct fit replacement for the originals? To be honest I don't wanna be messing around with fitting plates etc would rather the speakers just fit straight in...

Oh yeh...I probably only want to spend Â£100 for the back AND front speakers as I'm not that much of a bass junkie....

Any advice appreciated....

im in the exact same predicament as you, but are you planning a sub with external amp, to run the componants off? or running them off the head unit?
