ah bugger!

Post by DanDiesel »

i had a slight disagreement with a parking space curb today!

any further forward and i think i may have pulled the bumper off coz that splitter was, in the words of Doug, "well on there!"
its pulled the 2 main screws out of the splitter aswell as a couple of the pop rivets and has left holes in the bottom bit of the bumper!
i think a new bottom bumper piece and LCR splitter may be in order

Surely some large washers on the bolts would suffice. Maybe some new rivets too. As long as the bumper is still ok, nobody will see a couple extra holes/bolts in the bottom.

exactly what i was thinking! but going to take the bumper off to do it after the amount of hassle it caused us taking the small lower part of the bumper off!

There was no need to do that to make me feel better Dan

Hope you get it sorted easy enough, I know how it feels. Mine is all better now though, there's a couple of pics in the GTi section.

glad u got ur sorted Tom.
unfortunately its probably slightly worse now as i caught it 3 times driving round last night, twice on speed bumps (the same one inparticular) and then coming out of a car park with a stupid incline towards the road which then goes back.
i went very slowly and at an angle but it still scraped!

Sounds like you need some hydraulic or airbag suspension so you can jack the front up everytime you come to a bump

That or a JCB to remove the bumps on your most common routes!
