Anyone experience in using non VW garage or specialist for service for longlife schedule?
My local all types garage used to service my Golf 3 which proved just as good as both a VW and specialist service-but cost less.
My 2003 Polo 1.2 will soon be 2 years from the date last serviced on longlife by VW.
The mileage since the first service at 14,000 now reads 32,000-I have changed the oil myself about 7,000 miles ago (Longlife oil+filter).
I also changed the air and pollen filter. The brake fluid was done at 2 years old in 2005 by VW-plus the aircon service was done by VW in 2006.
The display has yet to tell me its due-however it is now 2 years since the first VW service-the book says max.2 years.
If I supply the VW parts and use the local garage are they able to reset the dash or can only VW do it?
Any suggestions?

Update.
VW garage which I usually use wanted £250 for a second variable service. The young guy on reception does not know much!
Went to another VW dealer who gave some sound advice to switch to time/mileage service-10000 miles/ or once per year-cost including 3 new spark plugs £130 including VAT.
Booked in for next Monday morning.
I am now concerned with the common heater motor flap problem-out of warranty-can it be fixed ?
Thanks-good forum.
