My passenger window has recently started to play up.
I press either button (drivers side or passengers) and the window will go down very slowly but will eventually go down. When it comes to comin g back to the 'up' position its very slow again and gets about 3 quarters of the way up then gives up and goes back to the half way position.
Any ideas? Ive had a look etc and cant see any thing stuck or broken wires.
Thanks
James

Try spraying wd40 down near the moving parts. They might have alot of dirty around them which could be causing them to stop.

I'd say leave the doorcard off til it is fixed
If its going up a bit then coming back down on its own then to me it sounds more like an electical problem. Just take a good look at what happens whilst the doorcard is off when its goes up/down.

something like that happened to me it turned out the clip on the camp that holds the glass had broke. i ended taking the door apart and drilling a small hole through the plastic bit that hold the camp and put a make shift pin through it.

I've done that on both clips on both windows on the 16v and once on the GLX. Its a poor design really because its only a little bit of plastic that is meant to clip into metal.
I was on Dartmoor when I pressed the up window switch, all sounded normal until I realised there was no glass! Luckily I had a screw driver in the boot to strip the doorcard off and push the glass back on. Much to our amusement but I couldn't use the window for the day for fear of the glass falling back into the door again. The next day I decided to check both doors and they both needed fixing, my garage suggested a whole new mechanism. But at about £50-60 a door I decided to fix it myself, there is a slight rattle which if it really bothers me I'll strategically place some rubber to quieten it down.
I took some pics so will post it up at some point.

I have exactly the same problem! I need to get a replacement switch sorted as the person who owned my car before obviously has tried to take the switch out and broken it a bit! probably when taking the door panel off to fix the speaker (which is still broken)
does any one know where i could get a new switch for the electric windows??
