+ Remap OR No Remap??? +

Post by KennyPOLO_Gti »

Just called for a quote for ma APR remap (£441) and am still unsure whether to get it done??? A worry too much if ma engine can handle the extra power??? Plus ma brakes, do u think they will be good enough to handle the power?

Any comments welcome folks

Hi Kenny,

I' ve also had to make this decision 5 months ago, and i decided to make the remap.
Now, I have a remap for my Polo Gti, done by MRC Tuning, England.
The power now, should be ~200 HP.
The change is incredible. You don't know what you are missing.
Above that, the fuel consumption is less than before. I live in Romania, and in metric units, the consumption is 11l/100km, only city driving.

The stopping power is still effective, but for 100% safe driving, bigger brakes are needed.

Best regards,
Doru.

get the map, its a massive difference to drive its rude not to

engine and nternals can handle it, vw have acknowledged my gearbox is a defective part and its not my engine output affecting it

my car gets more mpg too when driving it normally, as much as 32 round town stop and starting and iv had 43 mpg on the motorway, not bad when you consider my cars 215 bhp with the extra mods

as for brakes, mine dont struggle but i would recommend uprating the chassis with suspension and arb changes to make it less wallowy in the bends

if your bothered about brakes get the 312 mm conversion from the 225 tt, it fits straight on and they are being sold on e bay

great stuff mate, theres so much you can do to it

im looking in to further chassis stiffening methods at the min, front upper and lower braces, eibach front arb, rear upper brace etc then will look in to brakes, but im considering a tarox or black dimond disk and pad conversion, rather than going for bigger standard fitment, as it will likely have the same effect for less dollar

Up in Aberdeen

Not putting a trial on, you dont get the factory map back, so might aswell get the full thing.

Might get it done when i get back from offshore.

Although my MK2 golf is in the middle of a 2.8 24v VR6 transplant so is a mega money pit at the mo

Forgot to say, if you or anyone who has the remap, dont exceed your max speed on your car ( 134mph) as it scraps your warrenty!!! And VAG COM cant clear it!

Do VW not cover if youve gone over 134?!

i attend track days and go over 134 all the time, does that mean im no longer covered?

i cant see why now tbh :? :?

because in standard form in final gear the car is limited to 134 mph on the std map

and so if the car goes faster this it is logged on your ecu, therefore it stands out that the car aint standard
