On ma way home from work i was racing my mates Type R. When we both approached the roundabout there was a horrible grating kinda noise but both cars seemed totally fine after.

Once i got home i turned off ma engine and push my clutch pedal in and there is a horrible grated/springy noise??? Is this somethin to worry about, cos ma car is runnin fine and so is the gear changes etc?? :? :( :?

does the noise go away once engage the clutch?

or is it there sat in neutral?

if so sounds like the clutch release bearing...

Switch it back to the original software then

The new polo's are able to have 2 different programs in their ECU. I can switch mine back to original if I want to (with vagcom).

I hope the tuner has left the original one.. If not that would be kind of amateuristic..

PS. Why are you typing A for I and Ma for Me ? :?

Even with a remap it shouldnt affect the gear box warranty, because the remap hasnt got anything to do with the gearbox etc, vw will do anything to blame a remap on anything that fails on the car.

is it a proper mechanical noise or just a little one inside the car

as my red polo gti did this little internal noise, it was the clutch pedal mechanism just wanted greasing mate

hope its just that and it helps

my door is currently making the most annoying sqeek when it opens and closes too, iv greased it all up but its still doing it slightly :(

no, drivers, seems to be sorted now

but my passenger one occasionally makes a clunk when driving

think it may need the catch adjusting

A remap has got a lot to do with the gearbox.

More torque = gearbox gets more beaten up also..

the torque will go through the flywheel anyways not gearbox.

Is someone dreaming here! As Wouter has implied, a gearbox is only made to withstand the engine loadings that it would see in normal service, but there again what an interesting concept - so you could transmit 300HP and huge lumps of torque through a Polo gearbox and it would be okay? Try finding out a little bit about engineering in general Ray_chan.
