Hello,

Does anyone know anything about converting the rear drums to disks?

Is it hard to do? Would I just need the original disks and calipers? Or is it more complicated?

its more complicated than that mate im affraid

you will need a full rear beam already with the disks and calipers, different setup for the handbrake, brake bias's etc

its a decent sized job, but can be done if you had the money or knowledge

I'll give vagparts a go see if they know what I need, and how much it would cost!

Tbh, the rear drums are s**t (they even squeak when coming up to lights sometimes), so i'd rather replace them.

How did you get on with this? (if you did it)

Drums are pretty efficient when working properly.

You will see no benefit from swapping to disc other than looks - if the brakes are squeeking overhaul them, if you cant do that, you cant do a disc swap.

Ive nearly got all the parts to do mine. Just need the Caliper setup. Got the stubs, bearings, discs, pads and cables plus new speed sensors hehe

hmm disks do look soooo much better though! and im due to change the drums and shoes anyway! decisions decisions!

Your due to change the drums how on earth did you wear them out!?

No idea! Just came up on the service that they were due for a change!

Wouldnt be surprised if it was just stealership tactics!

Na I didn't do it in the end, looked up the parts and got majorly confused. I dont mind doing it, but if someone points me in the right direction i'll be sorted.
