Problem whilst driving

hello, my polo seems to have a problem. every so often the car 'drops all power' whilst in motion.

it has done it more times at 70mph on the motorway but it did it in second gear doing aboit 4,000rpm.

what it seems to be is all the car losing power and feels like braking, but then rapidly comes back. the drop in power only lasts for roughly a second.

any ideas geniouses?

That used to happen to my Clio, Renault said that it was the lambda sensor.. After they changed the sensor, it stopped happening.. But I got rid of the car anyway!!

its a 2002 and 1.4

M7, it is as same as the other owner. he has a better description too.
