Buying a MK3

Hey guys,
My girlfriend has fallen in love with the Mk3 coupe and is considering buying one.

I just want to know some more about them, what to look out for, what goes wrong on them? stuff like that.

also do the higher models like the gt/gt40 have PAS? i dont expect they do, i just thought i would ask.

Dont suppose any of you are planning on selling up???

only a minor thing but potentially very dangerous. the expansion tank caps are s**t at actually venting pressure - i've had 2 that when unscrewed blew scalding hot water up to the underside of the open bonnet even if left standing all night!

Depending if you want wanting GT/G40 or just wanting a 1.0-1.3

The lower end engines such as 1.0-1.3 go for very cheap on ebay and you can gets some very tidy ones and there is a lot of low mileaged one at the monent

GT - Seem to be a lot going for sale at the minute some really nice ones but going on what I have seen latley they are going for quite at the min probably cos theres some nice ones, but still some bargins if you look around

G40's - Wouldn't recommend if you don't know what your doing really, I know that sounds bad but could turn out to be quite costly if you buy the wrong thing. Plus they are not the easiest cars to get hold of as not many around.

Personally I would say either a GT or maybe a 1.3/nz
