well... I was thinking about changing the polo...

Post by vwdan »

yeah ok its sounds criminal and maybe its just a phase but I have had my polo tdi for about a year now and I am already starting to look around at other cars. I like variety!! lol
I always would like a golf or an A3 but I have started looking at Mini Coopers!!

Call it a girls car or whatever but I quite like em. Im more of a fan of a smaller car than a big one and I have always had a thing for a mini for some reason.

The Cooper S is all good but I gotta think about insurance and fuel usuage (which I would prob notice anyway goin from a 1.4 TDI)
I would happily have a cooper

Am I mad?? Golf, A3 or Cooper??

Also how much would you say my TDI is worth if I was to change? Its a Y reg with 48k miles, had a cambelt changed. Condition wise fairly neat.

those are exactly the 3 cars I was chosing from when looking for a new car.
A3 - the new model or the old one... as its hard to find one with reasonable milleage.
Mini - Was a little girly/hairdresser'ish so I opted out
I ended up getting the golf (which in theory is just a bigger version of the polo)

A3 I would say the newish model. The one with the clear lights not the old lookin ones (if that makes sense)

I can see what u say about the mini but I have always liked em even the old ones so I am kinda set on one.

The Golf I would like. Maybe a 1.9 TDI or a GT TDI but I feel that it would be too similer to the polo in some things especially if I was looking for something slightly different. It is like you say a bigger Polo! If I saw one in Diamond Black though then I think it would have to be a must!

I would probably keep to something German either way if I changed

I am just annoyed now cause now I am lookin at a Cooper, I keep seeing them on the way to work and this tempts me more lol

my girlfriends brother is just about to start his placement year at uni and the company he is working with have given him a cooper and its soo nice comapred to the polo!

handles so well around courners and is a lot faster than the polo.

A3 is a nice looking car but i would rather have a Golf.

Yup my mum has just got rid of her mini cooper.....i drove it loads while my car was out of action etc and i have to say it is a very quick wee car!!! It pulls extremely well and i would say its a huge deal off the polo gti to be honest, would certainly give it a run for its money. Yeh the GTI would win, but it wouldnt be a by a huge amount. I think they are great cars!!! Lad ollie on clubpolo has an S on 18" BBS LM's and it looks amazing! Look for when with the factory bodykit etc....gives it that edge, bit more aggression to it.

My dad had the old 1.8T A3 150 bhp model. Yeh it was a nice refined car to drive. Bit slow like, bit the build quality and interior was great!

He now drives a brand new 2.0T A3 200bhp S-Line.....and oh my god what a great car to drive! The gearbox is sooooo smooth, makes for quick changes, the turbo pulls extremely well and starts quite low in the rev range. It is quick like, but due to me being a petrol head would go for the remap :D Personally think its visually stunning with front end real nose down posing a really really aggressive stance! Sitting on 18" BBS CH's. Love it!!!!

Also my Ex girlfriend has a brand new 2.0TDi a3 with 140bhpI think the 2.0 has 140, maybe 150). mind you she was only 17 when she got it  only 18 now. And i have to say even though it only had 140/150bhp it still pulled very well and was quite torquey. Really good car all round to be honest! Miss my ex :(

The golf, cannot pass comment im afraid

If you want something reliable, that handles well out the box and has good residuals get the mini cooper.

The MKIV chassis (Golf & A3) is awful in comparison. If you don't need the extra luggage capacity, it's a no brainer, get the mini.

you have all tempted me so much more lol :P

im not really fussed about having a lot of room in a car. its rare that I need to fill my boot so that doesnt really concern me.

If I was to get a newish A3 I would prob be lookin roughly the same price if not slightly more than a cooper and I think if I got one, I would still want a cooper lol.

Cooper S would be all good but the insurance is quite high and also they drink quite a lot of fuel I have heard. Nice though

Mini is a bit girly even though I do like them. A3 is very boring unless it's one of the sporty models

Only thing i didnt really like about the mini was the fact they have extremely stiff gearbox's! Tough to work and if your giving it some welly, the gear changin can sometimes let it down, whereas my polo has a much lighter shift, meaning i can get the foot down a bit quicker....but thats me just nit picking here.....'tis a very good box, just a bit heavy. Same goes for the clutch.

Personally i agree with mouse, unless its the sporty models of the Golf an A3 then they doo look a bit boring......and if you were to go for the sporty models, then your talking alot of money!

You need to look beyond the stereotype of a car - the MX5 is a classed as a hairdressers car but is a superb car to drive.

The cooper is a superb handling car, no matter what people say about them.

Much prefer the single framed grill A3 as opposed to the old shape but as you said prices are still high, but as with most VAG cars they hold their value well.

So true.

The polo is classed as a girly car, so I don't see what the issue is !

true a lotta people say the polo is a girls car or more annoyingly an old persons car!!

i told someone this morning i was thinking of getting a cooper and they said "oh no girls car!" it does annoy me a bit. I wouldnt say its girly like a Ka

Im being stereotypical now. but i think if u like sumin they why does it matter?

The cars I said, Mini, A3 and Golf are all good for holding there value

I really want that cooper lol i just need a bit more cash and my polo went for a service and mot today

Take it you've never driven a KA? Despite it's looks and stereotype its another great handling and nippy car.

Not getting a car you want because of what people might say is just stupid imo.
