1991 Polo GT, sell or break?

Post by bristolbaron »

Hi guys,

I thought you lot would be best to advise me as to what i should do with my Polo. I bought it originally in November 2002, sold it to a friend a couple of years later and then bought it back last summer.
When I originally owned it i fitted a Pipercross filter, white front indicators, 15" Wolfrace Voodoo's and my friend had the full stainless system and decat fitted about 18 months ago. it's very loud!
Problem is, i have had absolutely no use for it, having a company car and a Corrado G60, but I just couldn't see it being sold to someone else.
A year later, I've come to the realization that it's gonna have to go. It's no good to anyone sat round the back of my mums house.

Yesterday, I spent the afternoon showing it some love and dusting off the cobwebs. It still runs great, but areas of rust/damage from when my friend had it have got worse, and I'm gonna need to tax and MOT it in order to sell.
I work for a main dealer, and took it in a couple of months ago to get it checked over by one of the MOT guys, who said everythings as it should be so i know it's okay, but not worth putting a ticket on till i know what I'm doing.

Now I'm starting to think by the time I've taxed and Mot'd i may be better just to break it to save the expense. It's on hardstanding, and could stay there, so not really a problem, but just don't know if i could bring myself to do it!

Here's some pics, if anyone could comment on what they think i should do, or even give a guide as to what money i may see if i sold/broke it that would be great!

Cheers.. and sorry for the essay!

Baz.

Firstly,welcome to the forum!

I always try and avoid breaking cars if its at all possible. while you may be able to make a bit more cash selling individual parts off, it takes a lot more time and effort, and ultimately lowers the numbers of cars available to buy.

I am interested in buying the whole car if you decide to go that way, so you'll have to pm me with what kind of price you had in mind.
