The bin man and my car

Post by TDI_Burd »

Hi peeps

Today as i am off work not well i am lying in bed and hear a crunch and it was the nice bin man hitting my wee polo!!!!! I am absoloutely gutted cos he has done damage to the door and where the door meets the rear quarter and well my mirrior is no longer!!!

The Bin man admitted it details were passed etc. So i contacted my insurance and they said they will try fix it asap cos i need my car etc cos i have arthiritis, so do u guys think the Council will pay up as i am bit worried about it. Cos well come on it is the COUNCIL when do they ever give you money back

Any advice to put my mind at rest is nice

The councils do pay up I used to work in a fleet section of a council and there used to be loads of accidents with the bin lorries. Yhey were the only ones who report the accidents. The insurance is usally external as well so its the likes of Zurich and but they usually pay out of a fund set a side for anything under a couple of grand.

So there shouldn't be any problems

I'd agree with Chris, with them being a big organisation it will get sorted.

A friend of mine had her car smacked by a barrier whilst leaving the council car park, it damaged the roof and caught on the roof rack, promptly pulling it off the car a breaking a window in the process, and then as it slowly fell off the car it dented the side panel and left some nasty scrapes in the paint...

The council paid up and the car was repaired quickly... however, the car was not quite done properly as there was a liberal use of filler, she complained and the council then stumped up the cash to get it repaired properly!!

You should have no problem, its in their interest to keep you happy

bin men trashed the mirror on our passat but because there were no actual witnesses other than my dad jumping up afterwards, they wouldn't pay up, it stinks. good luck with yours though, maybe its just our council?!
