Updated! Golf nearly sorted! Plus pic of dead polo...

Post by LeMeph »

Now my car has never, and will never be at this rate anything perticularly special. But my trip to the isle of white has been inspirational in many ways. Ive dropped alot of ideas about the exterior that i did have and am now favoring some other, more absurd and ratty ideas.

The thing is with my car is that im never gonna keep it tidy, im too much of a prat. If i have a flash car im never gonna drive it through fear of wrecking it, and thats not my style. So im going ratty and am probably gonna make the thing look like its straight out the army with some army issue green paint and then white decal all round lol. Should be a good laugh if nothing else.

The alloys are also changing colour. Going black with a silver rim lol. Just a paint job so it might look a bit tacky but hey we will wait and see how she looks at the end.

Still the pictures!! (crappy phone pics at first then the decent ones!!

Not too sure about army green with white decals, but just army green with darkish details will look stunning I guess :D

aww mate i love your car how it is! not sure about the rat look but i reckon a 2-tone green would look absolutely stunning, and you know its gonna be original lol.

lol sod sitting on that thing its damaged goods as it is haha!

Oh and, nothings to expensive for the luxury of the roof  lol

Dark green decalls could work. Experimentation is required. I should eb buying a wing off a guy at the next bluewater/whatever it is now meet. so ill test drive the theory and see where it leads me eh.

and it has been a long time. I just havnt had anything worthwhile to post really so ive kept rather shtum. And the isle of white doesnt have the internet. They actually live in the stone ages over there. Thats right its that quaint even the stones age... and get wrinckly...and shrewd... i trod in one... it was nice.

Apologies im a little bit gone lol Y'all know how it gets.

But thanks for the positive comments people. I didnt expect that response lol. I was expecting:

"wow your right it is a bucket of s**t lol"

He heh.

That car looks too good to rat. Openairs are becoming a bit rare nowadays would be a shame to ruin this with a dodgy DIY paintjob. Leave it as it is all you need to do is lower it and it will look alot better. I dont think the rat look suits newer cars like this. Only mk3 polos can pull it off in my opinion. But if you've got your heart set on it go for it!!!

yeh it is 40mm on springs, with very very knackered shocks lol. So its probably sitting mroe like 60 or 80mm.worrying lol, they make some loverly noises you know lol.

well its true that open airs are very rare these days. When i say im goign for that rat look though i dont mean rust and rubbish like that. That only looks good on old cars i do agree. When i say rat i think its misleading. I think a "themed car" would be a better title as thats more in line with what im going for.

Ive got the new wing, cost me a fiver thank you vbery much well impressed from a guy called riskie on clubpolo. good bloke with a nice liltt em mk4 that should look wicked if he does what he said he was goign to do, and im sure he will.

Ive also now got lined up a brand new 6n2 bumper as im going to do the conversion as i think it looks so mint.

Hardest part to get hold off i think will be the roof rack, and then converting that to hold a paintball gun! Thats gonna be so awesome i cant wait lol. Obvs it will be for shows only. so i can shoot all your cars muhahah (joking off course)

im decided on a like a rich neutral green (not too light not to dark) as i realised there are actually a few greens in the army! Who wouldve guessed lol. Then some decking 6n2 rears and probably new wheels. Banded steelies would be the ultimate but they cost a bit so im not sure. This is gonna be my daily runner aswell so it does need to remain practical and low pros are expensive as hell for a man in my line of work. This car is also gonna be used for alot of commuting so practicality really is top priority.

Just so you knowit is gonna be a proper paintjob. My mate who im doing it has loads of experience with spraying and bodywork hes not some young chav like me lol. Hes an old essex boy who lived spraying in holland for a while. No idea why he came back actually.. but still ive seen his handy work and it is really quite amazing. Just need somewhere to do the bloody spraying now!

the golf is nearly on the road, if i havent posted pics up of that heap of s**t i will do lol. was working on it today didnt realise how much rust is on it lol. Im considering spraying that now aswell after the polo and having it as another project car ocne im done with the polo lol. similar style but with a bigger engine, VR6? Ooo id like that lol. Or even a turbo 20v. So many possibilities and ideas it just depends on money at the time really. We shall see, im focusing on getting it on the road for now lol. Still needs an engine mount and a fuel filter, oh and steel wheels then its good to run.

Will have to adjust the springs aswell. theyre decked on 17's at the minute and thats not my thang.

More to come in the next few weeks hopefully! It should all be happeneing in the next few weeks/months so keep an eye on this thread it will grow and become a mass of awesomeness i assure you lol.

And breathe lol. Big post. Hope you enjoyed.

if you full on mounted a paintball gun on a tripod that u cld pop out of the roof and fire, that wld be the coolest thing ever! whack in a 20v turbo, go to cruises and take out the novas (paintballs are the exact same size as marbles if no1 else noticed  ) then chip and laugh! nah think it will be nice mate, altho ill still be sorry to see the red go lol

hashahahahahahahaha. Thats bloody awesome mate lol. A little elss violent looking then that maybe but its the general jist. and the yellow headligths actualyl go with that really well, i had nto thought of that you see.. Damn spiffy idea ol chum!

The bottom ahlf of the green is rpetty much what im going for so spot on there! The wheels however are a bit LOL in ym opinion. not my cuppa haha.

And im loving the tripod lol. Bloody genious. A tripod might be a bit much, but a bipod on the rack... now thats a differnet cuppa. Saying that... i reckon i could make a tripod and youd stand on the back seats! Hahahaha. Oh the ideas for this madness just keep coming lol.

In concerns to the turbo 20v... im actually looking to go with a 1600 AEA block with throttle bodies race cam etc etc. Al the fancy mods. im looking for about 150bhp out of it oh and a six speed lupo box. Im fairly sure thast possible! Im in love with throttle bodies i just think theyre amazing. The sound is unbeatable i dont care how big your turbo is lol.

Right so today we got on with things. The golf now only needs a wing mirror and an exhast brakcet then shes ready for MOT.

Heres some pics:

Image

thats the alloys we were taking off. Had just replaced the mangled GTI lights with standard ones and also the mangled grill with this burgundy one.

Image

Thats the new wheels. steelies off of i dont know what...

Now if it were standing vertically it would look like this:

Image

Now i am going all out ratty with this piece of s**t. Gonna do some graffiti all down the sides soonish. Nice cheap ongoing project that i can drive daily. Unlike mmy olo. Which si going to be the sexily weird magic car of awesomeness. Heres how its looking right now:
