9N3 rear lights on a 9N RHD cars

Post by stig247 »

its an updated guide of the previous one as that did not make any sense as it was for LHD cars

firstly remove the rear light cluster, a small plastic nut holds them in place. Remove the wiring loom. Then comes the hard part removing the wires from the plug. For this you will need 2 very small fine straight screwdrivers and a pair of pliers. There is two clips holding each wire in place so using the screwdriver one placed in front and one behind push them up the plug unduing the clip then use the pliers to pull the wire out

numbers 1 to 6 represent pin numbers marked on the side of the clips

left> passenger site
9N WIRING
1 Brown =earth
2 Black white = indicator
3 Black/Red = brake
4 Black/blue = reverse
5 Blank
6 Grey/black = lights

CHANGE TO 9N3
1 Empty
2 Reverse
3 Indicator
4 Ground
5 Brake
6 Lights

right>drivers side
9NWIRING
Grey/Red = lights
Black/red = brake
Brown = Ground
Green/Black = indicator
Grey/White = Foglight
Black/blue = reverse

CHANGE TO 9N3

6 Blank
Rerverse wire black/blue not used to cellotape it

(sorry i didnt wright the original 9n pin locations on the drivers side)

The 9N3 has the fog light on the passenger side and the reverse lamp on right, but the 9N has the reverse on the passenger side and fog on drivers side. So you have to remove the red lense on the passenger side lamp so it becomes clear and use it as reverse i burnt mine into a few pieces and removed it and fit a red bulb in the drivers side so it becomes a fog lamp. Or you could connect the reverse wire on the drivers side instead of the fog and extend the fog light wire to the passenger side and connect it to the left hand side cluster
