Newbie + My GTi

Post by GTi_dan »

Hi Guys,
I'm Dan, Had my Polo for nearly a year now... Very happy with it but now looking at some performance upgardes.
javascript:emoticon('')
Laughing
I'm after some advice having it chipped, I've taken a look into it myself and found various people offer upgrades claiming varying increaces in bhp.
From peoples experience what would you recommend/ who would be best to deal with?

I've had APR mentioned to me, but read their performance programmes work from cruise-control switches in vehicle. My GTi doesn't have cruise-control, does the matter?? can/is it worth havin c/ctrl fitted??

Any other mods you'd recommend to accompany having it chipped?
(I don't want to spend the earth though)

Any recomendations for insurance company after mods?

let me know what you think of my VW below...

cheers

dan

Think the guy was asking on differing views of different remapping software, not the list of mods you have...?

Indeed, Is definatly the right colour! haha
You've certainly got your's loaded!

Factory:
Standard GTi / Black Magic paint / cloth interior

(Was gonna go for the leather + climate but arrived at dealers and had my car out back by chance still in plastic/cardboard... one of those want it right now moments so had the keys by end of that week).

Enhancements:
Its's not been touched from standard, Apart from added Sony DVD navigation system in dash (dvd navi box where vw should have put the spare wheel) + focal speakers all round.
This is why i've joined here for some ideas/advice+experience/inspiration from others of best routes to go down now the bank balance will allow.

I checked some photos of your polo on another thread, it's a stunner mate. Coilovers worth every penny for visual impact - sits really well, whats the ride/handling like on those? vast imporvements on handling?

Also you're APR software... I'm assuming is running on chipped map perminantly? It's not got anything to do with/requires cruise-control to switch between standard/chipped map?

cheers

How positive are you that the turbo is a K03s. Sorry im not saying your wrong its just Guy Harding of APR in OZ told me it wasnt. And i would like to know if it is.

They are K03s type, but the turbo is unique to the BJX and BBU Ibiza/Polo 150/180 engines

You can retro fit cruise control, but its not a simple plug in afair like the Golfs, i've got a stalk and wiring loom ready to go in mine, getting to the bulkhead loom connectors is an utter pig.

I'll be putting custom code on my Polo soon.

Hi Dan.
I got the apr software and cruise control. The cruise stalk lets me change between factory standard map (when its in for service) and apr super unleaded plus map. I can then lock the ecu out so VW cant see whats going on. Thats the only advantage of the cruise and apr software.
If your interested my car is the same spec as jeffs without the coilovers or exhaust but with cruise, park sensors, cupra r front 4 pot brembos and full cup body kit.
Jabba custom map is ment to be very good as well.

Hi Guys, thanks for the infos...

...I'm tempted going with APR software, i'm 30miles away from nearest distributor, but only live about 10miles from Jabba Sport... decisions eh?

Has anyone on here used Jabba map their 1.8T Polo... Advice/Does their product/service get you seal of approval?

Any advice regarding insurance companys from experience from you're chipped motors?
