Lowering question
Lowering question
Hey guys, i want to lower the polo because i've got myself some 15's to put on it but i don't want it to look like a tractor! How low can i go on just springs? Because i'm a bit skint and can't really afford to fork out for shocks as well. Also, how much am i looking to spend? Cheers for help, Craig
set of srpings cost u about £60, i got a philj suspenion kit for £130. I got qutoed £60 for fitting jst springs, or £100 to fit springs and shocks. Youll then need your tracking and camber done, cost me £80 to get it properly done using a laser and a computer lol.
You should be fine lowering 40mm on just springs, but ig u want to lower for perfromance perposes i reccomend getting shocks as well

If you can tell me which part of the MOT involves measuring the length of the spring relative to the damper, I'd be quite intrigued.Gomez wrote:also lower than 40mm on standard shocks is an MOT failure as i understand it.
The reason people suggest not to go more than 35-40mm is because the springs and dampers are mismatched in their rates, meaning the ride can be awful combined with the possibility of dampers wearing quicker.
got around to writing a guide coz some1 had to lol check it out

Maybe not MOT failure then jsut something i heard but i still get the feeling he was right about the springs popping out if the damper fully extends be it pot hole etc?
It was an ex mechanic friend of mine.
I wouldn't suggest doing just springs in any case. or if you are not running them for too long with upgrading dampners as well.
