9n3 cruise control unit stalk for my 1.4l polo.

Post by alpolo9n »

Hi, I found this product on ebay and was wondering if this will fit my polo 1.4l w/o cruise control?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=018

The seller said I can install it but I need my car to be programmed with a vag-com and an expert has to do this. But I have no idea what is a vag-com. Can the dealership do this? Thnaks.

You have the cruisecontrol module installed in your ECU indeed.
Find someone with VAGCOM + obd cable and it's easy to do.
VW dealer will ask sh*tloads of money for it :/

I could do this for you but I'm afraid you live a tad too far

Hi Wouter,

Thanks. I was guessing my car is already preprogrammed with the info in the ecu after checking out some other site. I could get a vag-com software and the interface cable but that will set me back a few hundreds more. But at least I have got the option now to do it if I want to later. Its not an expensive option really. Glad to know it can be done. Is the stalk a good price? Thanks.

from looking at the pictures, am i right in thinking that the steering wheel needs to come off to fit it :(

was considering this but i dont like the idea of the wheel being removed

also, on the wiper stalk (what would be at the right hand side) it does not seem to have the 2 buttons for the multi function computer???

already inquired about this myself.
In order to have it fitted after market you need to have the sport model -> onwards. E, S and SE models cannot have it fitted as they do not have the on board computer function that controls the cruise control.

I spoke to the main dealer and also independent people and they said if you have had the computer (ie, MPG reading, temp etc etc) then it can be fitted, but if it doesn't then you cant.

Never mind! i sooo wanted it as well!

Hi Chris,

Thanks. Oh well! such is life. So close and yet so far. The taking off of the wheel is a put off as well. This job if it can be done is definitely an expert's job. That's off the to do list. Thanks guys.
