Smooth Bumpers

Post by bouzel »

I followed the guide on here and smoothed my bumpers out using the expaning polyfiller and u pol on top method as in the DIY guide thing is it's started rising before ive even put on the primer and basecoat :( so i've dug it all out now i was just wondering what i could do, i really want smooth bumpers, If i take it to a bodyshop rougly how much would it cost? also are there any other good methods that works, any ideas anyone?
Many thanks

Vdubit was originally disappointed with the finish he got of the bumpers, best way is to plastic weld followed by fibreglass and filler. To get them looking 100% you need to take them to a professional.

i did it al myself using P38 body filler amd P38 filler mesh. mainly the mesh is used to cover any large holes which would be awkward to fill. i done the back but not got round to doing the front yet. once i get round to doing it i will have pics. the filler and primer is time consuming but the main colour is the important bit which i used halfords dodgy paints so theyre not perfect but when im happy eith the body work im gonna get it all resprayed in a body shop. if u do do it this way give yourself about a day or 2 if u can. less rush then. the filler sets in about half an hour or so depending on wather so its good stuff. mix it in small amounts tho as it starts going hard in about 10 min and whe it gets hard its totally useless.
