Hi Guys and Girls,
I'v posted a few times on the MK VII bit, but not on this one - So hello everyone!
I'v got a MK VII GTi and I'm looking at a power hike when the warrenty expires. Long story short I want to go big and get around 350 BHP, some people say its over kill, but its my car and thats what I want LOL I know some of you guys have big power 1.8T converstions in your 9n's and was wondering if there is anything that you had to change/modify that you were not expecting? I'm quite confident about what I'm going to do to the engine, but its things like gearboxes, drive shafts, diff, chassis that I'm not that sure on. Any ideas would greatly help
Cheers

Do you think you will be able to drive it properly at 350BHP??? Am sittin around 200BHP the now which seems just about nice. Might go up to 225BHP in the future but after that I think it will be s**t to drive?

On the basis that the Ibiza shares the same platform, and I've owned several examples of which - I recommend you visit seatcupra.net/forums as there are a good few highly modified Ibiza 1.8t's knocking about and it's a far livlier forum than the 9N3 Polo area on here. You will find masses of info on there.

i have around 280ish bhp in mine with a 6 speed box with peloquin ATB diff and have covered over 26k miles, had the odd little probs but nothing major or expensive
- New Intercooler (the one from Ibiza Cupra would be my choice)
- New Air In-take (again the Cupra one, a good intake can do wonders in a gasoline block)
- Bigger Turbo (from A3/Leon).
Only this new hardware can take your GTI from 150 to around 220HP. A soft remap does the rest, but I wouldn't recommend going over 250HP, or you can start training your running skills, so you'll be able to run to the side of the freeway to fetch every piece of your engine
Good mods, and if it's the case, good runnings
Cheers mate.

thanks for all the replys, I know it sounds like a lot of power in a Polo and it may be a b***h to get the power down if I give it death from a standing start. All depends when you need to use the power though - I dont really need to use my car hard from standstill. I have a friend who has a 250 Fiesta Turbo and that drives really badly, but I'm fairly sure that the Polo has a better, and newer, chassis and drive train. Only time will tell I guess, two years of warrenty left
