It looks like the K&N 57i kit for the 16v although slightly taller. Although you get a different noise and improved throttke response its not gonna scare you making you think your cars faster (lets just say 10bhp faster!)
You do get what you pay for which is why you should stick to something thats guaranteed to work well with your car. BMC's are much dearer then K&N and consumes more fuel but gives better performance then the K&N. Pipercoss isn't too bad but all I noticed was a deeper sound, it wasn;t as good as the K&N for throttle reponse.

Exactly so I was stupid enough to try a universal kit, very big in size and it drank fuel like crazy. Was only getting 170miles from a full tank instead of the usual 240. Kept emtying my wallet so I traded it for the K&N. Think thats better as rthe engines standard. If I had mods done then probably would'v had a BMC for more air.
nto stealing the thread or owt. but is this a good make:

You get what you pay for with the BMC. End of.
I believe BMC make a cheaper model of the CDA, called the DIA. Even that would be better than the sh*tty K&N ones or the other generic pieces of poop that make your car sound like a wet fart.
Even then, an induction kit would not make much of a difference. You'll be better off with a K&N or BMC panel filter.

There's no reason it should make it worse, especially if the kits made specifically for that car. This is also the case with fuel consumption. If a filter isn't made to the spec of that car then it doesn't allow the recommended air to filter through. if its too big then it allow extra air in the engine, hence more fuel added to compensate.avipolo16v wrote:it's the first time i ear that open air filter makes your car drink more fuel...
that, i didn't know
dome say that that inbox for my car is better then a cone filter
"cone filter only can make things worse"
My kits got soooo dirty to the point I get an extra 25miles every full tank now. Reason being it doesn't allow enough air in so the car compensates for that! Its not right so I best get it cleaned
