just a quick Q. will the decat pipe of a mk4 16v fit the mk4 8v?

Depends, 8v has 45mm diameter, 1.4 16v (75bhp) also has 45mm diameter, but 1.4 16v (100BHP) and 1.6 16v GTI (120 or 125bhp) have a 50mm diameter exhaust, can be fitted with some adjustments, but aint a straight swap
