Automatic coming home function and rain sensor

Post by daa709 »

Hello,

Just wondering guys if anyone has managed to add these to their car after buying it: the automatic coming home function, rain sensor + auto dimmer of the rearview mirror.

Would be cool if anyone knows someone who's managed them, seems like nifty add-ons to have.

Oh and on a side note, if anyone here is selling a votex kit (rear, front and side skirts and spoiler for 9n3) let me know, i'll be interested!

Cheers

I've added the rain sensor and autodimming to my 6n2 - It's straightforward once you work out the wires. The autodimming is great, the rain sensor is good but not perfect

You need:

the rain sensor €130
the rain sensor relay €50
the mirror €150
mounting bracket for mirror €15
trim plastics €30
some vw connectors €10
wires, fuse €10 minimum
a new rain sensor windscreen  €excess on your insurance policy

I got all of the above (almost free) from a breaker, except the relay. I mounted the rainsensor to the side also, so I didn't get a new windscreen. I can put a wiring diagram for the 6n2 in DIY guides if anyone wants to do this

Do i need the new glass? Surely it just connects to the wipers?

Very very helpful stuff btw (thanks!), just need to find the part numbers and then figure out how it all goes together!

If the rain sensor isn't great, shall i not bother with that and just go for the autodimming mirror?

No skip the glass - unless you want the perfect factory setup, with the sensor stuck to the glass inside the mount for mirror. My sensor is stuck to the glass just to the left of the mirror because the glass at the mount on non-rain sensor windscreens is blacked out

This howto gives the part numbers etc http://pics.tdiclub.com/members/MOGolf/ ... imming.pdf
That guy smashed his windscreen taking his old mirror off

I'd leave off the rain sensor so you'll only need the mirror, the new mount, plastic trims and 3 wires - earth, switched positive and reverse(optional)

Awesome! Thankyou very much!

Does anyone know anything about activating the coming home feature? Is it a vag-com thing?

Thanks!
