does any one have a picture of it in their engion?

i'm confused with all the hoses about the place.

've fitted mine on and i hasn't changed sound much
(which makes me think its wrong as the little change in noise will prob be my engion dying slowly.)

cheers

1.4 8v btw

your air filter is the hugfe3 black piece of plastic that takes up the most room in your engine bay. It has like 4 or 5 screws stuck in it that are all numbered up.

Get a pic of what youve done up. Im guessing youve attached some kind of mushroom filter to the end of the air feed for the filter housing (on the left hand side?). If you didnt take out the original filter before attaching the new filter then it will do bugger all for nosie or eprformance.

You're a bloody good guesser!!!!

pip my take on this

1st - That's a mesh filter and I can assure you they don't filter much if anything at all

2nd - if you want the waaaaaarp noise it won't provide it as it's way too large

My track day monza has no induction noise at all due to a very large filter

3rd - why would you want to replace a very efficient paper filter that give excellent flow rates and when housed in a sealed air box gives both min induction noise and max filtration

4th - haven't found anything other than a high quality induction kit with a sealed box containing the filter and a proper cold feed that does anything other than make a car go slower, use more fuel and sound crap

Sorry strong views

for (1) basically you need to get a small breather filter for that pipe, that will help stop all that nasty oil breather stuff getting back into the engine.

otherwise what you've done is fine, if a little diminishing to performance....

not long till my new car though :]

lol yeh i spent ages playing around with my inductiion kit before giving up and putting it back 2 standard, that didnt do much but sometimes it gave a well nice deep hum at higher speeds. I put it where the old box was it just sits straight on

The smell is due to the crankcase breather not having a filter and/or being to close to the cabin air intake :P

That pic of what you done really made me

Anyway, firstly a universal kits isn't good for your car seeing it doesn't filter much anyway and is too huge for that type of car. So its best to get one specificly made for your car ie pipercross, K&N etc.

Then take off the black box and put the kit on the mouth of the throttle (2). Best to put a metal heat shield between the filter and the engine so heat hot air doesn't make it in. A specific kit would also have the fixtures for the breather pipe (1). However buying a small breather filter would seperate the two stopping that air getting back in. job done. If your selling then best to revet it to standard and not bother anyway.

Then its really no use spending money on this anymore if your getting something so soon cos you'll probably revert this to get a wider range of buyers anyway.
