Clear stone chip guard film

A rep came into work today trying to sell me anti stone chip film to apply to all leading edges of a vehicle. It sounds like a good idea and I could get it fairly cheap fitted to my Polo. Anyone seen this stuff or had it on thier cars? Is it any good and can you tell its on?
It looks like very thick clear tape

ive had it on my car when i went around europe, it works to an extent to as in if a stone chipped your paint, it would go to primer etc or even down to bare metal if it was bad

i noticed with the film on, instead of chipping the paint, it would dent it...

all in all, its good but you can still tell there is a dent... also can see the leading edge of the film lol

vw sell a similar product - they call it the stone protection pack. supposedly it works very well!

hhhmmmmmm, I'll look into that. Gives me a bit more confidence if its a VW product
