Chipping and exhausting a 1.4tdi 6n2!!!

Post by shorty249 »

has anyone chipped a 1.4 tdi 6n2 because i am considering it but wanted to ask around first!! iv sin a chip from dragon performance for 300 quid, just wondered is it worth the money!! also considered a induction kit but am unsure if you can get one!!
And also wondered if i was to put a afermarket back box on it would it make it louder/deeper??

I dont know much about chipping but from some of the ones I have seen all they are is a resistor thats gets soldered onto a pcb somewhere in the car. I dont really know alot about it all to be honest.

but seeing as you have a TDI i reckon you should get it remapped, that will make a big difference.

haha those are the eBay chips - more dangerous than danger itself!!

A remap on a 1.4TDI may see perhaps 20 more bhp but for whats its worth, itll cost you about 300 - 400 quid, so not much of an increase

Its not a hugely tuneable engine, so the options are a little limited.

Not too sure if it would be that much actually. I know more of petrol turbo remaps than diesel lol.

May be worth calling up some remappers such as APR and REVO and getting a few bits of info off them

yep 20bhp extra on a 75bhp engine is huge increase! lots of people remap the newer 1.4 tdi polos - I dont think it costs quite as much as £300 from what i have seen.

Not sure who it was.. on another forum... they had a bmc induction kit and remap and hit 117 hp... with printout.... there may have been a new exhaust as well but dont quote me on that! I'd imagine the torque was fairly impressive aswell so the clutch probably wouldnt have lasted too long.. realistically you should end up with between 100 and 110 hp is what ive been told..

Dont bother with tuning boxes!! Your car will end up overfueling and the gains will be s**t but the loss on economy will be a fair bit id imagine.. pointless.. research it!
