Exhaust emission light - what to do?

Post by CymruPolo »

When I was driving home from work tonight I came from a 50mph zone onto a dual carriage way and as I was accelerating I felt a judder. Initially I thought I went over a bump but the car felt like it lost a bit of power and the exhaust emission light came on. Then a few seconds later it went off and the car felt normal again.

Any idea what could be wrong? Do I need a new exhaust? a mate of mine did mention he thought it was blowing a bit a month or so ago.

Try & get your car over a pit or on a ramp & see if you can find where its
blowing from. Might be the cat if the emission light came on.

Think mines blowing from that area at the minute, need to check.

Hope you get it sorted.

Does it make any difference to the car at all? Apart that it would fail an MOT lol.

Did you have to do anything to sort it out?

Had to leave them to dry out and get out the moisture using kitchen tissue. Car was fine after that

yeh something weird happened to mines a couple days ago.

Drove home, turned the car off....went back out like an hour later and noticed the fan was on....i was like hmmmmm! So tried to start the car, but no surprise that the fan had drained the battery! Nightmare!

So i took out the fuse and put the battery on charge....once charged, fired her into action, stuck the fuse back in and the fan was fine.

weeeeeird! :?

The sensors do panic sometimes - if it comes back, keep an eye on it :)
