A few questions about mods!?

Post by M@Turner »

Hey mkVII owners.

Am sure some of you will recognise i post currently in the MkV GTI section but on Saturday i'm picking up my 56 reg GTi. 8)

So i've been reading up on a lot of things these past couple of weeks but just want to ask a couple of questions so i know what exactly i need/want!!!

1. strut braces - am i right in thinking i need the ones designed for the Seat Ibiza?? Also where's the best price to get these from and how easy are they to fit?

2. chrome boot strip - have noticed a couple of you guys have these fitted and just wanted to know where you got them from, how much they were, and how easy to fit???

3. forge dump valve - now i know its the fmcl007p i need and they roughly £100 but do i need a fitting kit with this or is it simply remove the bosch one, and put the forge one in place?

4. green cotton filter - can someone please shed some light on which one i need to get. Part number would be ace!?

Think thats it for now guys!!! Have bought a pd160 intake from Dino so thats the first mod, then the strut braces me thinks. A remap and milltek exhaust is planned for the future but just thought if i've got the smaller/less expensive things in place first, then there's less stuff to do when funds and insurance company permit the remap! 8)

Cheers for looking and i look forward to your replies!!!

Welcome to 9N3 land! :D

1. Yes you can fit the Ibiza 1.8t brace. Costs about £50 from a SEAT dealer. Occasionally crop up second hand on VAG forums. Forge also do a really nice brace, bit dearer but allegedly much better quality.

2. ebay, stick on

3. Forge 007s come up for sale second hand all the time if you want to save a few quid. BigBoysToys also sell them for a good price I've seen on other forums. They just need jubilee clips to hold them in place. Included in the price usually when you buy new or a couple of quid from B&Q if not.

4. Green filter is same unit as Fabia vRS one, Ibiza FR/Cupra, Polo TDI etc. Bill Brockbank over on seatcupra.net is normally about the best price for these and has supplied loads of them. He'll know which to supply from the chassis code.

Hope that's a bit of use.
