New parts fitted to my Polo.

I got some Clear front and side indicators for christmas and I managed to fit them yesterday. Very easy to fit but unfortuantly Body-kit.com had sent me a broken side indicator so it's got one clear and one amber right now

With the help of my Dad, we also managed to fit Mark5 Rear lights (Thanks to Bepe and ModifedMadness for selling me these), which makes a big difference to the whole look of the car. It looks much more modern now and I'm really chuffed. Took rather a long time to sand it down to keep it flush with the boot and it's still a tiny bit out but it looks great. Watch out for the next installment of new rear bumpers (16V model

) and new alloys.

That looks the business

. Just a thought maybe keep the front 8v bumper and stick on a Mark 5 Polo GTi Splitter and for the back stick on a 16v bumper

. I've seen quite a few polos like that. Well thats what i'm thinking about doing to mine, but stick on a badgeless grill and it'll be spot on

Cheers for the comments guys, much appreciated. I might stick with the front bumper but i'm definatly going to get the 16V rear bumper because the current one is damaged in 2 places. I really like the look of the GTI red trim round the front grill but I don't it to look like something it's not if you can see what I mean.

Alex, the paintwork is quite bad when you get closer. There are some areas of rust (all of it on the rear drivers side door

) and scratches but I reckon I can get them out with a touch up pen. It's a fantastic car car, especially for being an 10 (almost 11) year old so I suppose that it's expected. Oh, and btw, I love your car! My next car is definatly going to be one exactly like yours. Perfect red and looks great with the colour coded bits

Cheers bud thats nice of you to say. Mine is topping 8 years now - the benefits of galvanised body panels i guess!

Some meguirs scratch X or tcut may help. They do a red specific one which is very good indeed for restoring the colour

If you get a touch up, get it from a dealer for sure - halfords flash red is appalling for a match!!

Hope you were happy with the condition of it, it was cleaned polished and waxed when I took it off then put straight in the box

I'll get meg scratch X a go because I know meguires stuff is usually pretty effective.

This red paint gets faded after about 2 weeks of not polishing which is a shame really because it looks amazing when it's polished. I've even had multiple people tell me that it looks like a new car when i've polished the body, back to blacked the tyres and rubber and cleaned the alloys.

Ahh, I just need to find that 16V rear bumper now because it needs that the most. Then BBS alloys and lowered. I did think about the black badge but I didn't think it looked right somehow

What car polish are you using - autoglym super resin then high gloss finish should keep it for more than 2 weeks at least a few months id say!

I'm currently using the Autoglym super resin polish only so it doesn't last very long in the weather we are having. I did clay bar it when I first got it to remove any impurities so I thought it might be longer lasting. I did consider a respray but for Â£500+ i'd rather spend the money on the 16V rear bumper, BBS alloys and some coilovers.

Try find someone to detail it - ie use a PC machine (porter cable) that will skim off bad paint and leave it all shiny and new looking

I do know someone through a forum that has one of the megs polishing machines so I might give him a bell sometime. Are those buffing machines from halfords/autocenter for about Â£15 utter s**t? Might be better putting the Autoglym stuff on a pad that goes on one of those, save my arms from dropping off

yes they are evil - i had one it left such a mess. Supposedly theres a correct way to make them work tho...

eww, I guess i'll be giving that a miss then!

I'll ask my friend If I can borrow his Megs polished because i'd rather spend Â£150 on the 16V rear bumper

Yeah they are pretty hard to find, Ebay and forums are probably the best place to find them? I think there is a polo thats breaking on ebay now, although it says 1996 polo and new primered gti bumpers?

which i guess is 16v but the guy doesnt know.
