Hi guys,
I have a few questions regarding the 16V Front and Rear Bumper to fit onto my 8V Polo. Where can I get hold of these parts? I know Breakers yards are a good start but I don't really know any in my area and don't want to travel far and find out they don't have one! Are they available OEM new? How would I go about fitting them? I have seen some bolts on the wheel arch that I assume I remove.
Cheers,
Darren

breakers yards,forums,vw and ebay.
they dont come up all that often on ebay these days.
should be a straight swap, there's a plethora of bolts to remove so i'll just let you work it out
you can get the bumpers of polo saloons and vans but the mounts are different, but i honestly wouldn't think it hard to fit them either.
best bet to track one down is forums, club polo and here usually have some.

try http://www.eurocarparts.com mate, you want item 821440871 they call it a sports bumper but thats the one. a genuine VW bumper is about £130, an identicle replacement one is £30.
That'll have the rear one as well, just enter your car details.
Rember you'll need a splitter and the grills, and a tow hook cover, as it dosnt come with them. I got my tow hook cover and splitter from Volkswagen and made the grills out of some mesh, I also filled the upper slots with fibreglass and filler.
With regards to fitting theres just a load of bolts around, about 6 or 8 if i remeber correct, also the 8 valves are in two parts.
HTH!

Cheers for the replys guys,
Joe, Have you bought one of these from Eurocarparts? If so,
1) What was the quality like? (Any obvious moulding imprints)
2) Does it come primered?
3) How much did the tow eye cover and splitter cost from VW?
4) Does the front bumper hold foglights?
If I were to get it sprayed (which I will), do you think it would be worth hunting for a used bumper and getting that sprayed? I doubt i'll find someone who wants to sell thier 16V front/rear bumper for £30

Yeah my front bumpers off there, the qualitys pretty good but ive never compared it to a real one so dont no what its like in that respect. It does come primered but apparently its only a "transport primer" to protect it during transportation, but that was good enough for me lol. Cant remeber how much the splitter and cover were, think was about £20 for the splitter and £5 for the tow cover but not sure on that mate.
The bumper has the fog light slots so i guess u cld put them in but i really dnt know.

the perfect solution. joey. wish i seen this earlya lol. iv been looking for 16v bumpers for agees lol. fink ill be buying the front one asap. just need to check up a VW place to see if i can get the original grills and splitter, and at what price before i buy. cus if it all totalls up to lyk £60 it might be worth just buying an original one second hand.
